HATCH COACH certifies you to coach and work confidently with performance driven perinatal women. 

What is it? Led by women's health physio and educator Aby Tobin, and created alongside our team of 8 healthcare professionals and wellness experts, HATCH COACH gives you 20 evidence-based CPD hours/credits, and a specialist certification recognised by awarding organisations in the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. 

Who is it for? Anyone who has an interest in perinatal coaching or education is welcome to join our course.

There are no hard-rules about who can pursue our education, and we feel this reflects our pledge to provide fully accessible and limitless education for all.
 
For fitness or healthcare professionals wanting to have their CPD points awarded by a recognised provider we ask that you meet the following minimal requirements/competence:  
 
  • Level 2 Certificate Gym Instructor (UK) / Level 2 Group Exercise Coach (UK) / Cert III Group Exercise Instructor (Aus/NZ) / New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 4) (NZ) / Certified Entry-Level Personal Trainer (US) / Group Fitness Instructor (US and Canada) / Fitness Instructor Specialist (Canada) 
  • Strength and Conditioning Coach
  • Sports Rehabilitation Therapist
  • CrossFit Level 1 Instructor with minimum 1 year's experience in coaching
  • Healthcare Professional working in the perinatal populations: Doctor, Nurse, Midwife, Physiotherapist, etc
  • Or can prove a similar equivalent professional background on enrolment

Fully Online Assessment Process

Competency is assessed by way of online quizzes and assessments to allow application of learning. Coaches are required to submit an online case-study assignment on completion.

HATCH COACH Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course you will be able to: 

  1. Demonstrate safe exercise programming for a postnatal client within the scope of your role as a fitness professional, underpinned with an understanding of the precautions for the individual. 
  2. Critically reason your exercise programming and progression based on the condition or dysfunction. 
  3. Objectively measure the success of an exercise programme, adapt to client feedback and identify when to refer onto medical professionals. 
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the current best available evidence in postnatal exercise rehabilitation. 
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of anatomy and physiology of the postnatal population, as well as common postnatal conditions and symptoms. 

HATCH COACH Course Syllabus

Course Content:

Module 1: Anatomy and Physiology

Learn about the pelvic floor, the core canister, spine, pelvis, hips, myofascial slings and the abdominal wall. 

Module 2: Perinatal Programming

Teaches the foundations of programming including mobility, control, strength training, principles of strength training, loading, proprioception and training for pelvic health.

Module 3: Pregnancy Principles

Considerations and adaptations for pregnancy, fertility & baby loss, pregnancy psychology, performance coaching, pregnancy mental health and nutrition.

Module 4: Pregnancy Framework

Common experiences throughout the trimesters and pregnancy toolkit.

Module 5: Postpartum Principles

Principles of postpartum healing for vaginal and caesarian births, evidence-base on return to exercise, postpartum psychology, performance coaching, postpartum mental health, breast health, postpartum nutrition, postpartum hormone health.

Module 6: Postpartum Framework

Common experiences through the first 4 months postpartum and postpartum toolkit, considerations for lifting, impact, exertion, gymnastics, and sport specific return to full function including case studies.

Module 7: Common Conditions & Symptoms

Including pelvic girdle pain (PGP), pelvic organ prolapse (POP), diastasis recti (DRA), urinary incontinence (UI), anal incontinence (AI) and the overactive pelvic floor.

Module 8: Business Coaching

Including how to create your own business plan and revenue forecast, online growth-hacker marketing and retention strategies.

All theory tests and assignments must be submitted at the end of the course for your certification to be approved and for you to receive your certificate.

What professional credentials do I need to enrol on HATCH COACH? +

You do not need any qualifications or experience to join our course. What if my CPD organisation isn't listed? +

If your CPD points awarding organisation is not listed, please contact us and we will endeavour to submit these on your behalf in order to obtain your points.

How long do I have access to my course content? +

You will have limitless access to your course. The course will have small periodic adjustments based on evolving research but there will come a time whereby the course needs an overhaul into version 2.0. At this stage you may be required to pay an upgrade fee to access the newest version of the course.

How long do I have to complete the course +

You have unlimited access to the course, but cohort intakes are paced monthly to allow meaningful interaction with the course creator. Please set reasonable expectations when asking new questions beyond 6 months post enrolment, as the course creator supports new cohorts each month in her own time. After this time we reserve the right to respond at our discretion on a case-by-case basis.

Do you have an app? +

HATCH COACH is delivered by the Hatch Athletic app, which is downloadable from Apple and Google app stores. Alternatively you're welcome to access to course from your mobile site or desktop: just click your course from the member's hub to login.
